A collapsible crate is disclosed comprising of a square or rectangular support base (2) with base projections (10a, 10c) extending from two opposing sides of the base. The base is similar to a normal wooden pallet which includes a number of slats (9). Four side walls (3-6) are located about the perimeter of the support base (2) of which the respective side walls are adapted to be positioned adjacent each edge of the support base. The adjacent side walls are interconnected with each other by releasable connection means (7) which comprise a plurality of projecting portions (13) on a first wall and a plurality of receiving portions (12) on a second adjacent wall which are adapted to interlock with each other. Two opposing side walls include slots through which the base projections (10a, 10c) protrude to thereby engage the two opposing side walls with the base.
