The engine has a cylinder (2) with a combustion chamber (3) delimited by a piston (5) driving a crankshaft mounted in a crankcase (4). Two transfer ports (10) connect the chamber to the crankcase and are closed by a lid (15) fixed to a connection flange (16) of the cylinder. The flange is inclined with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cylinder, according to an angle (alpha) opening in the crankcase direction.
