PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide feed for larvae of insects showing remarkable effect on making them giant.

SOLUTION: The feed for larvae of insects contains cartinine, a cartinine derivative or a mixture of the cartinine and the cartinine derivative. The cartinine derivative is represented by formula [1]. In formula [1], R1-R3is each a 1-6C alkyl group; R4is a 2-31C fatty acyl group which may be substituted; R5is a 1-31C alkyl group which may be substituted or a 2-31C alkenyl group which may be substituted; and X-is an anion, on condition that a compound with R1, R2and R3of methyl group, and R4and R5of hydrogen is excluded.
