<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device to fully display catalytic action even at a time when an exhaust gas temperature is low at a time of cold starting or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas emission control device situated in the middle of an exhaust line comprises a cylindrical HC adsorption cylinder situated in the tubular container; a catalytic converter rhodium situated in the container and at a section positioned further downstream of an exhaust gas flow than the HC adsorption cylinder; and a plasma discharge part consisting of a discharge electrode situated at in a manner to extend in the direction of the exhaust gas flow; and an earth electrode situated on the outer surface of the HC adsorption cylinder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
