PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for cleaning exhaust gas with high dust collection efficiency while a pressure loss in a particle-packed layer is reduced.

SOLUTION: In the method for cleaning the exhaust gas by introducing the high-temperature exhaust gas containing dust into the particle-packed layer 4 to collect the dust, the high-temperature exhaust gas containing dust is introduced into the layer 4 in which a particle to which a dust collecting auxiliary agent fusing in the exhaust gas or another dust collecting auxiliary agent reacting with an acid component in the exhaust gas to produce a compound fusing in the exhaust gas is stuck is packed.
