PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote a polymerization rate of a reversible addition-elimination chain transfer polymerization and enhance the productivity and the economical efficiency by a polymerization process not using any expensive additive and not requiring any complicated post-treatment or waste disposal. SOLUTION: The polymerization process is a process intended for promoting the polymerization rate in the reversible addition-elimination chain transfer polymerization, which can be achieved by the reversible addition-elimination chain transfer polymerization comprising polymerizing vinyl-based monomers with use of a thiocarbonylthio compound as a chain transfer agent under the conditions that a polymerization initiator which is thermally decomposed to generate radical species is employed and the polymerization initiator has a decomposition half-life of not greater than 1.5 hours.
