BALLAST-FREE FLUORESCENT LAMP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast-free fluorescent lamp with miniaturization aimed of an arc tube by the use of one of a double-spiral shape and capable of easily fitting a holding member to a cover.

SOLUTION: The ballast-free fluorescent lamp includes an arc tube 110 made by bending a glass tube 120 in a double-spiral shape gyrating around a pivot up to its end part, a holding member of a bottomed cylinder shape for holding the arc tube 110, and a case or the like insertion-coupled with a peripheral wall 220 of the holding member. Each part near either end of the glass tube 120 is formed so that its interval with the glass tube 120 neighboring the end part in a direction of the pivot is expanded in the direction of the pivot. The arc tube 110 is held in a state in which an interval L1 between an outer periphery face of the glass tube 120 neighboring the end part of the glass tube 120 in the direction of the pivot and a surface of an end wall in the holding member opposing the outer periphery face is to be around 1.5 mm.
