<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a track ball for performing a force feedback such as transmission of a click feeling to an operator of the ball, which can provide a desired returning force, or never impair the desired click feeling even if the ball is contaminated to some degree. <P>SOLUTION: This track ball comprises the ball 11 rotatable in X-direction and Y-direction; a movement detection part 12 for detecting the X-directional and Y-directional movement of the ball; drive parts 14x and 14y for rotating the ball in X-direction and Y-direction; drive detection parts 18x and 18y for detecting the X-directional and Y-directional driving amount of the drive parts; and a control part 17 for controlling the drive parts, according to a signal showing the moving amount of the ball detected by the moving detection part and a signal showing the driving amount of the drive parts detected by the drive detection parts, so that a click feeling is transferred to the operator of the ball, and the rollers of the drive parts which are in contact with the ball are never idled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
