PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an optical pickup to be moved accurately to a prescribed position in a radius direction of an optical disk by detecting distance from the inner periphery of the optical disk to the center of an objective lens of the optical pickup. SOLUTION: When an optical disk is loaded on a turn table, the turn table is irradiated with a laser beam by an optical distance sensor, the reflected light is received, distance from the inner periphery of the optical disk to the center of an objective lens of the optical pickup is detected, an address is read out from the optical disk, the read out address is converted to distance from the inner periphery of the optical disk, the distance from the inner periphery of the optical disk to the center of an objective lens of the optical pickup detected by the optical distance sensor is corrected, the distance from the inner periphery of the optical disk to the center of an objective lens of the optical pickup is detected by the optical distance sensor based on corrected quantity of distance correction, and the optical pickup is moved to the prescribed position.
