PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening device which can shorten the length of a link, can limit the amount of protrusion of a Shoji (sliding screen) to an optimal amount, and can restrain the sliding screen from hanging down. SOLUTION: This opening device is equipped with: a frame body 2 which is composed of a head 2a, a sill 2b, and left and right jambs 2c and 2d, provided in an opening of a building; moving bodies 4 and 4 which are each provided in the head 2a and the sill 2b so as to be horizontally movable via guides 3a and 3b; the sliding screen 7 which is supported by the moving body 4 so as to be protrusible in parallel from a closing position in the frame body 2 to a first outdoor opening position via links 5a-5d (and a rotary arm 6); and an operation part 9 which makes the links 5a-5c and the moving body 4 operated via a string-like member 8, so as to open/close the sliding screen 7 from the closing position to the first opening position and so as to slide the sliding screen 7 from the first opening position to a second opening position in one lateral direction.
