PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a high molecular weight poly (biphenyl ether sulfone) in a short period of time. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method for the poly (biphenyl ether sulfone) that has a structural unit represented by formula (1) as a main component comprises copolymerizing 4,4'-biphenol and 4,4'-dihalogenodiphenylsulfone represented by formula (2) (wherein X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>are each independently a halogen atom) with a monomer containing 3 or more phenolic hydroxy groups.
