PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive cooling device in which a sufficient cooling effect is obtained without providing a cooling fan to a drive, and there is no possibility of entry of dust from the outside. SOLUTION: As a cooling means for cooling a disk drive, a drive cooling disk 20 which is almost of the same form as an optical disk, is used. The drive cooling disk 20 has a built-in cold insulator 22 inside, and is formed with a feather part 23 on the back side. When the temperature becomes high in the drive, an alarm is issued by flickering an access lamp, and if the drive is loaded with the drive cooling disk 20, a motor is driven to rotate the drive cooling disk 20. A cool air flow is generated by this rotation, and heat sources such as a motor and an optical pickup are cooled down. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
