PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely notify the propriety of a measuring position, in constitution for measuring a dimension between prescribed planes of a measured object having light transparency, by a distance measurement. SOLUTION: A distance up to the interplanar center position of the measuring object is measured to control a display mode for a display lamp in response to the distance. That is, the display lamp is turned on when the measured distance is positioned in the optimum position in the vicinity of the center position of a measurable range, the display lamp is flickered when positioned in other measurable range, and the display lamp is turned off when positioned outside the measurable ranges. The center between the prescribed planes of the measured object is thereby aligned in the optimum position in the vicinity of the center position of the measurable range. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
