<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for artificially preparing a biomineral, by controlling formation of the biomineral with a specific protein. <P>SOLUTION: A protein having an interaction with a metal ion is isolated from surfaces of magnetic fine particles of a magnetic bacterium and identified, by utilizing the specific protein which is obtained from the magnetic bacterium through treatment of the magnetic fine particles with SDS, urea, and an acid. Further, it is discovered that the protein has combining ability to the metal ion and controls a crystal structure of the magnetic fine particles, by determining an amino acid sequence of the protein and a base sequence of a gene encoding the protein. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
