<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic imaging apparatus which can perform a proper dust removing operation corresponding to a selected picture quality, as an electronic imaging device capable of performing imaging with a plurality of kinds of picture quality. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic imaging apparatus is equipped with a photographic optical system 12a which forms the optical image of a subject, an imaging device 27 which converts the optical image formed by the photographic optical system 12a into an electric signal, a dust-proof filter 21 which is arranged between the photographic optical system 12a and the imaging device 27 and which prevents dust or the like from being deposited on the photoelectric conversion surface of the imaging device 27 and a microcomputer 150 which makes the dust-proof filter 21 perform a dust removing operation by vibrating the filter 21 at prescribed frequencies and a camera operating switch SW 152 which can set a plurality of recording modes concerned with picture quality.
