PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital copying machine capable of efficiently and simultaneously reading the both side of a both-side original. SOLUTION: Data for one line of horizontal scanning of image data obtained by reading a front face image of the original by a reading means (1) and data for one line of horizontal scanning of rear face image data read by a reading means (2) are image data which are connected and composited so as to be image data of the reading means (1) at the former half part of an image effective area signal generated by an image data compositing means and data of the reading means (2) at the latter half part. An image data identification signal by which it is possible to identify that data are read by the reading means (1) and the reading means (2) is synchronized with the composited image data and transmitted to a processing means. An image processing means performs image processing of the composited image data received from an image data compositing means with a different image processing parameter according to the image data identification signal.
