PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil-water separation method for efficiently carrying out oil-containing water separation and making the separated oil and water reusable by pumping up the oil-containing water stagnated in a pit or the line is pumped up without emulsifying the water, separating the water into oil and water, and separately cleaning separated oil and water, and an oil-water separation apparatus. SOLUTION: The oil-water separation method includes a pump up step of pumping up oil-containing water stagnated in a pit or the like by a vacuum apparatus; an oil-water layer separation step of separating oil and water layers by supplying the pumped oil-containing water in a spontaneous flotation separation tank; an oil cleaning step of cleaning oil separated in the oil-water layer separation step, except the oil existing in the interface part with the water layer; and a water purification step of purifying the water clean enough to satisfy the wastewater quality standard, except the water existing in the interface part with the oil layer.
