<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-liquid crystalline (meth)acrylate compound capable of lowering the birefringence difference (Δn) of a nematic liquid crystal and a cholesteric liquid crystal and the selective reflection wavelength range (Δλ) of a cholesteric liquid crystal without deteriorating the properties such as orientation and curability, and provide a liquid crystalline composition produced by using the compound, a cholesteric liquid crystal composition, an optical film and an image displaying device. <P>SOLUTION: The non-liquid crystalline (meth)acrylate compound is expressed by the formula (R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each H or methyl; A<SP>1</SP>and A<SP>2</SP>are each a 2-18C hydrocarbon group containing at least one ethereal oxygen atom; Y<SP>1</SP>and Y<SP>2</SP>are each CO-O or O-CO; and X is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, a halogen or the like). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
