<p>The procedure consists of impregnating the wrong side of the fabric used for the manufacture of garments, furnishings or other articles with a hot-melt adhesive over a given length (H) adjacent to the edge to be hemmed. To make the hem the edge of the fabric is turned over and pressed with a hot iron, making sure that the temperature of the iron is suitable for the fabric. If necessary the hem can be adjusted to the correct length by making a second fold and pressing it again. On trousers, for example, the adhesive is applied to the inner surfaces of the legs at the bottom.</p> |
