<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight porous material which can immobilize an object to be immobilized, such as enzyme and microbes, not only to the surface but also to the inside porous structure of the porous material, and a manufacturing method for the porous material. <P>SOLUTION: The porous material is made of powder/granular material formed by sintering a composition containing chaff ashes, inorganic aggregate, and cement. The porous structure is formed inside the porous material, while a number of dispersed surface pores open to the outside are formed on the surface of the powder/granular material, the surface pores communicating with the porous structure inside the porous material. The porous structure is manufactured by the steps of compacting the raw material composition, which is made by adding water to a solid raw material containing chaff ashes, inorganic aggregate, and cement, to form a compact, hardening the compact through a hydration reaction of the cement, sintering the hardened compact under a high temperature to produce a porous sintered body, and crushing the sintered body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
