PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the profile of a cylinder using a device of a simple structure, capable of precisely measuring a three-dimensional profile without being affected by the motion error during rotation of a cylinder to be measured nor a position attitude error of a displacement detector caused by deformation of a guide rail. SOLUTION: Three, two, and one of six, at least, displacement detectors S1-S6 are respectively disposed on the outer periphery of three cross sections which is perpendicular to the axis, spaced by constant interval d, in the axial direction of a cylinder 1 to be measured. Each of the displacement detectors S1-S6 is dislocated in detection angle from each other and arranged in the radial direction of the cylinder 1. While the cylinder 1 is rotated, the displacement data are collected simultaneously by shifting, by the interval d, in the axial direction while the relative position among the displacement detectors S1-S6 is kept. Based on the displacement data, a roundness and average radius at each cross section are acquired and an eccentricity at each cross section that corresponds to the bending of each center axis is also acquired.
