<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveyance device capable of stopping a sheet at a position where the sheet can be easily taken out on a sheet conveyance passage in the event of a sheet jam, and easily and speedily removing jammed paper sheets, and to provide an image forming apparatus with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet conveyance device has a conveyance abnormality detection means detecting the abnormality of sheet conveyance in the passage, a conveyance unit constituting part of the passage and capable of being pulled out of the device, a first sheet conveyance means arranged upstream in a conveyance direction in the unit, and a stop controlling means stopping the first sheet conveyance means upon the detection of abnormality by the abnormality detection means.
