<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discrete cosine transformation (DCT)device and an inverse discrete cosine transformation (IDCT) device in which an operation speed can be accelerated. <P>SOLUTION: Eight data applied to DCT have prescribed orders, and a pair of data in each of which a descending order from the top of the prescribed order is equal to an ascending order from an end are successively inputted to latches FF1, FF2. The inputted pair of data are mutually added by an addition part 10 and one datum is subtracted from the other datum by a subtraction part 20. The added result of the addition part 10 and the subtracted result of the subtraction part 20 are multiplied by respective prescribed cosine coefficients in respective multiplication parts M0-M7 and the multiplied results are converted into IDCT coefficients by the selection processing of a first selection part 31 and a second selection part 32 and the integrating processing of an integration part 40.
