PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make exactly specifiable a favorite channel from program viewing history data. SOLUTION: A day is divided into prescribed periods of time, program data of a viewed program and additional data are acquired from a PSI (program specific information)/SI (service information) included in a multiplex stream of a broadcast signal and recorded in a program information recording part 26 or a ROM 24 in each time period, and whenever the same program is viewed, the number of times of viewing the recorded data, an accumulated viewing time parameter and a parameter for the number of times of viewing the same additional data are updated. When the favorite channel is selected, program data corresponding to a time section including the present time are read, a program with the highest past viewing frequency is specified, and a system controller 16 controls a tuner 13 so as to select a channel that broadcasts that program.
