PURPOSE: A method and a system for remotely managing/distributing an OS(Operating System) deployment are provided to automate an OS deployment process associated with large hierarchies like a computer found in diverse organizations such as a company. CONSTITUTION: A pre-installation environment is installed to the same disk partition as the present OS of a target computer requesting imaging by using a new OS(500). The target computer is rebooted in the pre-installation environment(502). The present OS is removed from the pre-installation environment(504). The target computer is rebooted by using the new OS(506).
