ENGINE-DRIVEN GENERATOR HAVING BOTH GENERATOR FUNCTION AND MOTOR FUNCTION

PURPOSE: An engine-driven generator is provided to simplify a circuit configuration and allow for ease of control by eliminating the necessity of separating a generator output circuit and a motor starting circuit. CONSTITUTION: An engine-driven generator comprises a generator(1) connected to an engine(2); a rectifier circuit(3) for rectifying output of the generator; and an inverter(4) for converting output of the rectifier circuit into AC power of a predetermined frequency. The generator has both a generator function and a motor function. The engine-driven generator further includes a drive inverter circuit for driving the generator as an engine starting motor. The rectifier circuit includes rectifier elements arranged in parallel to each of switching elements of the drive inverter circuit. The engine driven generator further includes a DC-DC converter(5) arranged between the output side of the rectifier circuit and the output terminal of a battery(6). The DC-DC converter is arranged in which output terminal side of the battery is set as a primary side DC voltage of low voltage, and output side of the rectifier circuit is set as a secondary side DC voltage of high voltage. The generator is driven as an engine starting motor by using the battery as a power when the engine is started.
