A wood product includes a composite substrate, such as LVL, that includes treated paper wrapped around and glued to the substrate. The paper seals both the fa ce and the edges of the substrate. As a result, in the case of an LVL substrate, the veneer edges, which are less finished and moisture resistant than the face, are sealed.
