FIELD: optical engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: outer peripheral part of starting cylindrically-shaped material provided with glass core is subjected to deposition of glass particles in radial direction resulting in formation of porous layer, which layer forms porous substance, being precursor of optic fiber. Porous substance is caked to give intermediate product.
