FIELD: metallurgy, namely billet continuous casting machines. ^ SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes pipelines 1, 2 for supplying water and air respectively, branch pipes 3 connecting both pipelines, water metering orifice 4, sprayers 5 with nozzles mounted in ends of branch pipes 3. In body of sprayer there is inlet duct with semi-spherical end. Lateral surfaces of nozzle are diverging for increasing cross section area of nozzle from its center to periphery. Relation of depth of cut-in of nozzle into duct of sprayer to radius of semi-sphere of inlet duct is in range 0.4 - 1.4; relation of diameter of inlet duct to inner diameter of branch pipe is in range 0.4 - 0.9. ^ EFFECT: enhanced surface quality, improved macrostructure of continuously cast ingots due to their uniform and smooth secondary cooling. ^ 5 dwg
