PURPOSE: A universal gateway is provided to simultaneously use an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network, a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network), and an IP(Internet Protocol) network according to the selection of a user by mixedly composing a VoDSL(Voice over Digital Subscriber Line) gateway and a VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) gateway. CONSTITUTION: An ATM matching unit(10) is matched with an ATM network by DS-3(Digital Signal level-3) and STM-1/4(Synchronous Transfer Mode 1/4) matching types. An ATM cell process unit(11) performs the cell process of the ATM network, and divides/combines AAL(ATM Adaptive Layer) 1/2/5 cells. An ATM voice process unit(12) processes the AAL 1/2 cells, matches the ATM cell process unit(11), and is matched with a vocoder voice process unit(30). An IP process unit(32) processes an IP matching and IP protocol and provides protocols such as TCP(Transmission Control Protocol)/UDP(User Datagram Protocol)/IP and RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol) /RTCP(RTP Control Protocol). The vocoder voice process unit(30) performs a voice compression conversion process of a voice traffic requested in the ATM network, an IP network, and a PSTN and performs an EC(Echo Cancellation) process. A V5.2 process unit(14) performs a V5.2 function for being matched with the LE(Local Exchange) and performs a signal matching with the PSTN. An R2/No.7 process unit(22) processes a protocol for a trunk matching with the PSTN and performs a signal matching with a PSTN matching unit(31). The PSTN matching unit(31) performs a PSTN matching by T1/E1, DS-3, and STM-1 matching types. A main control unit(33) controls all gateways and has an interlocking function with a CA(Calling Agent) when being interlocked with an EMS(Element Management System) and configuring an NGN(New Generation Network).
