PURPOSE: A device for protecting a passenger at a rear seat is provided to prevent an injury to the head of a passenger at the rear seat in a vehicle crash by installing an airbag at a front seat. CONSTITUTION: A device for protecting a passenger at a rear seat is composed of a collision detecting sensor installed at the front of a vehicle, an airbag module(54) installed at a front seat(50), and an ECU(53) for operating the airbag module. The airbag module includes an inflator for generating gas, a rear housing, an airbag sheet inflated by gas, a front housing coupled to the rear housing and containing the airbag sheet, and a retainer fixed to the front housing and supporting the airbag sheet.
