Gas disinfecting method for e.g. meeting room, involves creating plasma column outside local thermodynamic balance by exciting and ionizing molecules of gas using electric field of progressive electromagnetic surface waves

The method involves circulating a gas in a dielectric hollow tube (6) to disinfect the gas. A plasma column (7) is created in the circulating gas at atmospheric pressure by exciting and ionizing molecules of the gas. The molecules are excited and ionized by electric field of progressive electromagnetic surface waves circulating in the hollow tube and the gas to create the plasma column outside a local thermodynamic balance. An independent claim is also included for equipment for disinfecting gas by passing in plasma having microwave discharge.
