PURPOSE: A press mold is provided to produce high homogeneous silica glass, which can prevent damage of the mold and the silica glass in a cooling process and can exhaust a large amount of gas easily in high temperature press molding process. CONSTITUTION: The press mold comprises a molding member(72) having a space of which the lower part is open and a support(75) correspondent to the space of the molding member, wherein the silica glass(71) is placed between the support and the molding member, is molded by pressing the molding member and is separated from the molding member in the cooling process, so one side of the silica glass comes in contact with the support. And porous cushion materials(76-3, 76-1, 76-2) are bonded to the upper part of the support, the upper wall of the space, and the side wall of the space, wherein the cushion material bonded to the side wall is correspondent to the inner wall of the space and a plurality of gas exhausting channels(77) is mounted on the upper part of the cushion material of the side wall. The porous cushion material is selected from carbon felt, ceramic fiber, glass fiber, or a graphite plate.
