DIHYDROXYBENZOATE DERIVATIVE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND UTILIZATION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food or a drink exhibiting activities for resisting the deterioration of a component and for resisting the oxidation of organisms by containing a plant-derived material by determining the plant-derived material having both of excellent antioxidant functions and biological oxidation-resisting activities, and developing a method for efficiently extracting the plant-derived material.

SOLUTION: The dihydroxybenzoate derivative is represented by chemical formula (A). The dihydroxybenzoate derivative is extracted from a terrestrial part of Origanium vulgare with a water-containing organic solvent. The antioxidant, the gastric mucosal damage inhibitor or the inhibitor of the increase of serum cholesterol contains the dihydroxybenzoate derivative or the extract of the Origanium vulgare containing the compound. The food or the drink is obtained by adding the antioxidant, the gastric mucosal damage inhibitor or the inhibitor of the increase of the serum cholesterol.
