<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective method with which in the case of reusing decarburized slag in heat completing the refining as slag-making agent for the following heat, a smooth operation can be secured without developing bumping phenomenon even when molten iron is charged with a comparatively simple method. <P>SOLUTION: This method for refining the molten iron is performed, in which in the case of completing the refining of the molten iron, molten steel is tapped off under state of remaining the decarburized slag produced with the decarburizing treatment into a refining vessel, and after charging solid-iron source into the refining vessel, this refining vessel is tilted to the front and the back directions in one round or more at≥50°tilting angle to the formal standing position and also, the following molten iron is charged under condition satisfying the following formula to perform the refining.
