<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a maraging steel, which reduces the sizes of nonmetallic inclusions remaining in the maraging steel, and to provide the maraging steel obtained thereby. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a Ti-containing maraging steel comprises manufacturing a consumable electrode for vacuum remelting and vacuum-remelting the steel with the use of the consumable electrode, wherein the consumable electrode previously contains 5 ppm or more Mg. The maraging steel comprises, by mass%, at least, less than 10 ppm (but excluding 0 ppm) Mg, less than 10 ppm oxygen, less than 15 ppm nitrogen and 2.0% or less Ti; and includes oxide-based non-metallic inclusions which have sizes of 10μm or greater and contain 85 mass% or more Al among the metallic elements in the oxide-based non-metallic inclusions, so as to occupy 70% of the total number of the oxide non-metallic inclusions with the sizes of 10μm or greater in the structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
