PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer member for a tape carrier package capable of easily corresponding to the change of the height of a semiconductor element mounted on a film carrier, reducing a manufacturing cost, and preventing the electrostatic discharge damage of the element. SOLUTION: The two long-sized stringy spacer members 24A and 24B are used as members protecting the semiconductor element 16 on the tape carrier package (TCP) 12 wound and overlapped one another on a reel 20 from a crushing or the like. These stringy spacer members are formed of a rubber material having a conductivity, and are fed continuously so as to be extended in parallel with both edges in the cross direction of the surface of the TCP 12. A cross sectional shape is formed in a right-angled triangle, and the spacer members are arranged under the state in which first planes are abutted against the surface of the film carrier.
