PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording tape cartridge capable of positively locking a reel by a brake member and releasing the lock by a releasing member and capable of inhibiting structural constraint caused by providing the releasing member. SOLUTION: In the recording tape cartridge 10, the reel 28 having a reel hub 32 forming an annular reel gear 42 on the outer surface of a bottom section 36 and winding a magnetic tape T is inhibited rotation by engaging the brake member 60 with an engagement gear 44 on the inner surface of the bottom section 36, and a clutch member 84 releases the engagement of the brake member 60 with the engagement gear 44 by guided by a rotation restraint rib 88 relatively unrotatably engaging with a rotation restraint groove 90 and then by moving in the reel axial direction when the clutch member 84 is pressed against the rotary shaft 100 of a driver.
