PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair cosmetic free from stiffness and extremely excellent in hair-setting force, force retaining the set hair and hair-re-setting force. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic comprises (a) an ester compound having an ester structure of a hardened castor oil with a fatty acid in the molecule and (b) a film-forming polymer and a mass ratio of the component (a) to the component (b) is not smaller than 1/2. The film-forming polymer of the component (b) has, preferably, a nitrogen atom in the molecule. The hair cosmetic comprises, preferably, polyphenols and/or their derivatives.
