METHOD OF HYDROTREATING GAS OIL FRACTION

A method of hydrotreating a gas oil fraction, characterized in that a gas oil fraction having a sulfur content of 0.8 to 2 wt.% and a content of all aromatics of 20 to 35 vol.% is hydrotreated as a feed oil in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst containing at least one Group 6A metal and at least one Group 8 metal as active metals under the reaction conditions of a temperature of 330 to 390°C, partial hydrogen pressure of 12 to 20 MPa, and liquid space velocity of 0.1 to 1 h<-1> to thereby obtain an ultralow-sulfur-content low-aromatic-content gas oil fraction having a sulfur content of 1 wt.ppm or lower and a content of all aromatics of 1 vol.% or lower. By the hydrotreating method, the so-called "zero-sulfur" and "zero-aroma" gas oil fraction can be efficiently produced without fail and without the need of using special operation conditions or making an equipment investment.
