A write once information recording medium has had problems that: it has a complicated management structure for managing a non-recorded region; the disc start time is long; and it is difficult to built a recording/reproduction system. The write once information recording medium has a simple data structure for managing only position information of the recorded region located at the backmost position in the user data region. Moreover, a recording device has means for updating the position information on the recorded region so that the recorded region always located at the backmost position in the user data region can be managed.
