<p>A projector (1) comprising a light source unit (411), a color separation optical system (42), liquid crystal panels (441, 441R, 441G, 441B), a cross-dichroic prism (444), and a projection lens (46), wherein an optical filter (500) for reflecting a specified spectral component of a light beam is provided between dichroic mirrors (421, 422) in the middle of the optical path from the light source unit (411) to the light beam exit plane of the projection lens (46) where the spreading angle of the light beam is confined to within 20° with respect to the illumination optical axis L of the light beam. Consequently, contrast of a projected image can be prevented from lowering by correcting the spectrum. Furthermore, irregular color can be reduced because a difference in the incident angle of the light beam to the incident plane can be decreased.</p> |
