<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-halogen flame-retardant composition containing no halogen element, exerting high flame retardancy without emission of harmful gases, e.g. dioxins, on incineration and also having excellent mechanical characteristics, e.g. flexibility and resistance to external flawing, and a flame-retardant power cord using the composition as a sheath material for power cords and having excellent characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The composition contains 50-149 pts. wt. of magnesium hydroxide and 5-50 pts. wt. of a nitrogen type flame retardant to 100 pts. wt. of a resin mixture comprising 40-85 pts. wt. of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer of a vinyl acetate content of 25-50% and 15-60 pts. wt. of a non-halogen resin of a melting point of 75°C or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
