<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enlarged image having a sense of sharpness by solving the problem that the image becomes a blurred enlarged image in a method for enlarging the image, used for the signal processing unit of a display device. <P>SOLUTION: A method for enlarging the image includes the steps of converting an input image into an image of spatial frequency range by a discrete wavelet conversion, to a spatial frequency range converted image to obtain four components of the discrete wavelet conversion, comparing the image pattern with a comparison pattern database, replacing the image pattern with the pattern of an output pattern database including a high-frequency component, and performing a discrete wavelet inversion, thereby obtaining the enlarged image having the sense of sharpness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
