PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a oil lock mechanism absorbing shock when being compressed at highest stroke in a front fork for a motorcycle or the like. SOLUTION: In the front fork 10 for the motorcycle or the like, it vertically movably provides an oil lock piece 51 in condition that brings an upper part of inner periphery of the oil lock piece 51 composing the oil lock mechanism into slide contact with a lower part of outer periphery of a hollow pipe 22. It forms a passage 52 in fluid communication with the oil chamber 27C of the outer periphery of the oil lock piece 51 on the lower part of the inner periphery and the lower end of the oil lock piece 51. It forms an orifice hole 53 bringing the passage 52 into fluid communication with an oil reservoir chamber 28 in the hollow pipe 22. It also forms a latching part 51A capable of abutting to a taper part 22B of the hollow pipe 22 on the lower end of the inner periphery of the oil lock piece 51. It is adapted to block the passage 52 with respect to the orifice hole 53 by the latching part 51A abutting to the taper part 22B of the hollow pipe 22 in accordance with shifting to upward direction of the oil lock piece 51.
