PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for transferring bills which may easily adapt to a front maintenance type and a back maintenance type of cash dispensers in a use of the mechanism without any installation constraint. SOLUTION: The mechanism for transferring the bills comprises an upper unit with an upper transfer path connecting to a bill deposit and dispense window, a lower unit with a lower transfer path connecting to a plurality of bill cassettes, and a coupling unit with a coupling transfer path for coupling the upper unit with the lower unit. The mechanism is configured such that an acceptance end of the upper transfer path installed at the middle of a bottom surface for the upper unit positions itself against the acceptance end of the coupling transfer path installed at the middle of a top surface for the coupling unit, and the acceptance end of the coupling transfer path installed at the bottom surface of the coupling unit is positioned against the acceptance of the lower transfer path installed at the end of the top surface for the lower unit. Inserting directions for these unit toward the mechanism for transferring the bills are exchanged in accordance with the directions required for maintaining the cash dispensers, since the inserting directions for the lower unit and the coupling unit can be exchanged in terms of a front and a back.
