PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming method by which a reproduced color image with improved saturation and improved gradation reproducibility is obtained. SOLUTION: In the color image forming method in which an original image is formed and a reproduction of the original image is made on a color photosensitive material comprising one or more each of blue-, green- and red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers on a support which transmits or reflects the formed original image, the formed original image contains a dye formed from a cyan coupler represented by formula (CC-1), and with respect to the red-sensitive emulsion layer of the color photosensitive material used in reproduction, maximum sensitivity wavelengthλmax(D) of spectral sensitivity distribution at each density is 630 nm≤λmax(D)≤670 nm. In the formula, G<SB>a</SB>represents -C(R<SB>13</SB>)= or -N=, when G<SB>a</SB>represents -N=, G<SB>b</SB>represents -C(R<SB>13</SB>)=, and when G<SB>a</SB>represents -C(R<SB>13</SB>)=, G<SB>b</SB>represents -N=; R<SB>11</SB>and R<SB>12</SB>each represent an electron withdrawing group whoseσp value is 0.20-1.0; R<SB>13</SB>represents a substituent; and Y represents H or a group which can be released by a coupling reaction with the oxidized body of an aromatic primary amine color developing agent.
