The invention relates to a method for limiting a boost-pressure (p2) of an internal combustion engine (1), which is supercharged by means of an exhaust-gas turbocharger (2). According to the invention, a boost-pressure set value (p2_set, p2_setlim1) is compared with a predetermined limit value (p2_maxATL), and when the limit value is exceeded, the set value is limited thereto. In addition, the limit value (p2_maxATL) is determined according to an existing operating state (n) of the internal combustion engine (1) and to a temperature (T1), a pressure (p1), and to a gas mass flow rate (dm1/dt), which occur in the flow-through direction before a compressor (2.2) of the exhaust-gas turbocharger (2).
