METHODS OF SWITCHING AND CHANGING BOTTOM-BLOWN TUYERE IN CONVERTER

A method of switching a bottom-blown tuyere in a converter switching a bottom-blown tuyere by forming a new bottom-blown tuyere in a brick for drilling which is pre-installed in a refractory layer covering the bottom part of the converter at a position other than that where the bottom-blown tuyere is installed, comprising a step for pre-installing the brick for drilling in the refractory layer at the position different from that of a conventional tuyere so that, when either of the surface of an iron skin covering the outside of the converter or the surface of a flange installed on the iron skin is taken as a reference plane, the reference plane is positioned vertical to the drilled direction of the brick for drilling, a step for drilling the brick for drilling by a drilling machine from the outside of the iron skin in a direction vertical to the reference plane, and a step for inserting the new converter bottom-blown tuyere into a ground hole formed by drilling the hole through the brick for drilling.
