<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of achieving sufficient security protection by confirming the status of overwrite erasure of processed image data stored in a storage device such as a hard disk and executing optimum processing corresponding to the confirmed conditions, and to provide an image processing method. <P>SOLUTION: An overwrite instruction to the image data for which output processing is completed is received by an operation part 4 or a communication part 10, and the image data for which the output processing is completed and which are stored in the hard disk 12 are overwritten corresponding to the reception of the overwrite instruction. Also, from the operation part 4 or the communication part 10, the execution schedule of overwrite is reported in the case of receiving the overwrite instruction, and the completion of overwrite is reported in the case of completing the overwrite of the image data.
